WHY Give

As a nonprofit organization, our operations are reliant and made possible by the contributions of our generous and gracious donors. In addition to monetary donations, we are set up to receive “Wish List” items or “in-kind” donations of items you may wish to donate to children and the Ranch. The items we need for the Ranch are listed by category on the Wish List page. Simply print out an “InKind” Donation Form here, and send it with the items you are donating or visit one of our participating stores.

Wish List

There are so many things we’d like to do for our Diamonds, and your support is invaluable in making those dreams come true.  We’re so grateful for partners like you!

White Horse Youth Ranch is in its 4th year of development and currently is offering its Diamonds in the Rough program at Cowboy Trail Rides and 4 Views Equestrian. We offer Western riding instruction and horsemanship classes as well as Dressage and Equitation to Las Vegas’ underprivileged children, ages 8-18.

Here are the current “wishes” for the 22 children of our program and those we hope to serve:

  • A ranch property of our own to offer our program as it was designed – an after school program where we would have 3 groups of 10 students each day at ranch. We also will open this property to other children’s groups for education and enjoyment of spending time with horses! (estimated at $2.5 million)

Once we have our own ranch we will begin receiving:

  • horses as approved by our riding expert committee (to be formed from volunteers)
  • tack and riding gear
  • volunteers to assist with all facets of the program
  • Sponsorships of our Diamonds in the Rough students – our Fill A Saddle Campaign
    • $4,000 will help fill 1 saddle (includes lessons, safety gear, education materials)
    • Each donation will be matched by the Paul E. & Helen S. Meyer Foundation’s Challenge Grant – so your donation will go twice as far – sponsoring 2 children
  • Underwriting of television programming on KEEN 17 ($5,500/13 week commitment)
    • WHY Ranch has hours of footage to use to produce a 30-minute show
    • Includes 13 weeks of programming costs at $325/week and production/editing costs to chronicle the progression from Amy’s vision to students in our first class and each subsequent Diamonds class
    • This marketing/fundraising programming could bring in thousands of potential supports each week we air our program
  • Funds to provide proper attire for our students ($250/student)
    • Boots
    • Jeans
    • Safety Gear
  • Funds to purchase awards our students earn for achieving levels of accomplishments in riding and caring for horses. ($500/student)
    • Hats
    • Spurs
    • Belts

Thank you for partnering with us to provide hope to Clark County’s most precious resource!

Prayer

We encourage your prayerful support of WHY Ranch during this time of transition. The Ranch is in the process of returning the property given to us 4 years ago (due to neighborhood resistance to our program). We are looking for a new ranch home which will allow us to offer our program to underprivileged youth on a much larger scale.

Cash Donations

We gladly accept cash to help with our Diamonds in the Rough program’s operating expenses at two host facilities, as well as our current day-to-day operating expenses. Of course we welcome your donation to our Capital Campaign to purchase a new ranch site. Please call our office to hear more giving opportunities. We are honored to receive gifts of any amount, and offer you our thanks for contributing to our Ranch.

How do I donate?

There are a number of ways to donate to the ranch:

Please follow the “Donate” link on your right to give your gift with a credit card. Our site is secure.
  • Check or Money Order
Please send your checks or money orders to : 3315 E. Russell Rd., #205, Las Vegas, NV 89120
  • Program Related Items
Our wish list changes regularly, so please call our office to find out our current needs. Thank you!
  • Does WHY Ranch have a plan for long-term financial stability?

Yes, and it involves people just like you who can help us secure our ability to offer our Diamonds in the Rough program to more and more children each year! We have many ways you can play a role in securing our financial future. Please contact us to set an appointment to discuss the exciting opportunities available.

There are many ways that individuals and families can give a gift through their estate and leave a legacy to WHY Ranch. Here are a few: in a will or as a beneficiary for a qualified retirement plan, life insurance policy, or charitable trust, including both Charitable Remainder and Charitable Lead Trusts. We recommend that you consult with your financial advisor and then contact us regarding proper language for your will or trust. Thank you for caring enough to leave a legacy gift to WHY Ranch.

If I make a donation, where does it go?

Unless otherwise designated, all monetary donations go toward operating our program and excess goes toward our capital campaign for our new property.

    Is my donation Tax-deductible?

Being that WHY Ranch is a non profit 501 (c) (3) organization, we can supply tax receipts for all donations that include but are not limited to: monetary donations, horse tack, ranch equipment, feed, land, building supplies, horses, etc.

How can I get financials for the ranch?

We have this information available upon request. Please call our office for information.

Can I donate my tack and/or horse equipment?

God provides and we have most of what we need in regard to tack. However, we’re always on the lookout for something that will make our little tack room complete. We are asking those who would like to donate tack to ship it to our address or bring it by during our open hours. (Please use the “InKind” Donation Form mentioned above.)  We also want donors to be aware that if we are unable to use tack, we will find a good home for it or sell it to raise funds for the ranch. Many individuals may prefer to sell tack themselves and donate part of the proceeds to the ranch – we will gladly accept that also.

Can I donate my horse to the ranch?

We have accepted horses from many types of situations in the past. Horses kept by the ranch that are donated, rescued, or purchased for the program must demonstrate an aptitude for acceptance of children and a willingness to work. Ranch horses can be used in our lesson program up to four times per day and must be physically and mentally capable to do so. Because of this, we are selective in the horses we accept as donations. The ranch is rarely able to accept horses with limitations due to age, behavior problems, or soundness. Most of the horses we take, we purchase from abuse and/or starvation situations. If you are looking for a home for your horse, visit our FAQ & Contact Us Pages to let us know. We will put the word out to our connections in the community. Please continue your search as well.
